(i) Three jaw universal chuck: Used for basic turning of O.D. and I.D of parts, that isn't going to need any off-center turning. Can be used for through the spindle of bar stock. ***But caution should be used in through the spindle turning, as to the length of material that is hanging out the end of the none chucked end of the lathe that may or may not be supported.*** if there is a length of material of any length hanging out the spindle speed must be of a very slow speed, like below 50 RPM. There has been terrible accidents on bar material hanging out of none chucked ends of lathes, that have resulted in bodily damage too death, too terrible damage too equipment. It’s call material bar whip. I am not finished with answers.
