Hope all might be known about tolerances. While dimensioning a PART/COMPONENT, we’ll give tolerance value as a limit to manufacturer. If the tolerance value specified inside the parenthesis, what does it mean.... To put it in a nutshell, what is the difference between giving a tolerance with parenthesis & without parenthesis. For eg.
Dia 30 (+ or - 0.1) Please refer the attached tol.bmp file for clarification. Cheers, Manavalan |

Parathesis are used with dimensions on engineering drawings to indicate that the value is for reference only. A dimension without parathesis indicates that the dimensional limits do apply.
