hi friends
i have a big problem about carbon contents of steels. in my tensile tests there are different resulsts . as the carbon contenet increases the strength will inceraese ! but the problem is at this point for example 0,01%C ts=374 MPa but 0,09%C ts=354 MPa |

So, as with most things in life, there is a point that too much of anything is too much.
Forgive my simplistic and sassy answer but, if there was no point in which there was too much carbon we would be building dies out of carbon blocks. ... or coal ... or graphite... but as we know these have very little abiltiy to bond tightly... and break easily. Even diamonds cleave off. How much of this weak bonding do we want in steel? only enough to improve the molecular structure strength... but not enough to begin to hurt the bonding. Do your findings really surprise you? The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
