Is the stress caused by a static load or a dynamic load? Is the load a quick impulse or is it a vibration causing fatigue? A little more info would be good. What conditions are you under? |

fist of all ,i am studying HND B.E.T.C (AEROSPACE _AIRFRAME AND ENGINE)secondly , i want (trying) to analysis the behaviour of bolt under stress on tail rotor of helicopter (westland A-W [ws-61] sea king)when it is flying (dynamic). thirdly, my plan still in progress ( and confused because i have been asked not to make it a huge research) i need help FAISAL Modified by faisal at Mon, Jan 23, 2006, 06:26:47 |

If you have been told not to make it a huge research project, it sounds like maybe they want you to just focus on the bolt strentgh and if the bold in question will hold up to the loads applied to it. How large is the load applied to the bolt? Is the bolt in shear, tension, or both? If they want to know about fatigue. I have read that the fatigue limit for a material is 0.25 to 0.5 of the ultimate tensile strength of the material. It is a rule of thumb and not exact but it will give you a rough estimate. There are other variables that come into play with fatigue. |

thank you for giving me the material website adress. the maximum load is 178 kN (centrifugal force)acting on the two bolt with double shear force cross -section area(tail rotor).
