Hi Guys, I would greatly appreciate if you could give me some ideas to tackle a vibration problem a project requires me to work on. A little air compressor pump creates vibration when running. I am supposed to come up with some suggestions for mounting specifications. The specific issues are: 1. Minimization of vibration transmission to bench/table/foor where it may be mounted.
I have access to the following equipment:
Anybody some ideas? Thanks very much in advance. Jay |

There are actually several solutions to this problem. Two very simple ones that I can think of are the following: I am unsure of the configuration and how it is mounted and to what it is mounted to but this may work. 1. Increase the mass of the pump. This can be done by bolting a plate of steel in between the pump and the table. The added mass will help to damppen the vibrations. 2. Get ahold of some sort of thick rubber. You can bolt it between the pump and the table but the bolts may still help the vibrations get through to the table. Maybe put the rubber under the legs of the table. A third idea would be to do a combination of the two. I have a book on vibrations, I will look into it a little further if I get the chance this weekend. One thing that may help is a photo or better description of the configuration. |
