I am looking for information on the load limit of a steel beam 4" wide x 6" high and 8 ft. long. The cross sectionon or thickness of the beam is 1/4 of an inch. Beam is supported by a column of the same dimensions at each end. |

If properly supported at the ends, the beam should hold nearly 3 tons. I'm concerned about the colums though. How tall are they? How are they braced? |
