can some one explain how gear tooth is designed ? Mathematical explanation of gear tooth design |

I would suggest one of the gear manufacturing standards...
These publications thoroughly cover all the basic details and the finer points. You will probably find that it is so complex that you give up.
The biggest issue is not what is involved in generating the shape, but rather that there is no way to do a reasonable job without specialised gear hobbing machines etc. Good luck |

I think it would be wise to reference the "Machinery's Handbook", considered the definitive word in many such things. You will find numerous pages of shape, tolerances, cutting, engagement, materials, hardness, ratios, types, gauges, backlash, bearing/contact angles, bearing pressures, compound gear trains, rules for calculating speeds, and much more. /←randy→/ The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
