Can you run a stepper motor with a PLC? Or would software also be required? |

There are some new smart program modules that have step generators built in. These can be used to operate motors also sold by the same companies. An e-mail to me will pass along the name of one company to you. What they actually are is smart, simple language programable, motor logic controlers with many features you would expect to find in PLC's. ...kind of the reverse of what you were asking for. ... they can respond to various input devices like IR eyes, counters, contacts, encoders.. do a routine you program in and respond by stepping up to several motor axis. .. some use open loop and some use closed loop... at my last knowledge they seemed very affordable, and get this, were much easier to program than a PLC...and will process quite a bit of data. ... sorry, but pun intended.. /←randy→/ The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them.
