In the Industrial Finishing Types menu, Mil-A-8625F refers to hard anodizing and briefly discuss what it is. However, it also makes references to many metals besides aluminum, including copper, iron (steel, SS), titanium, chromium, and nickel. I was aware of titanium hard coating, however, I have not read anything about copper or iron hard anodizing, only that copper is not good in aluminum alloys because it dissolves into solution when anodized in sulfuric acid leaving voids in the alumina surface.
Is anyone aware of other hard anodizing techniques that would allow one to protect Fe, Cu, etc.? Thanks!
