I am a jr engineer. My company has a small assembly that consist of a S/S rod and a brass (nickel plated) thumb screw that goes into this rod to tighthen whatever is inserted into the center hole of the rod. We MFG this screw but cost $$. I wanted to try to save some $$ by purchasing a s/s thumb screw but he said that would cause some issue (problem) of placing s/s screw into s/s rod. I forgot the reason why. Would anyone know what I am talking about this s/s to s/s problem or issue? Its not rust for sure.
