I encountered the term 'OVERGAGE' in ASTM spec B898: Standards for ...Metal Clad Plate. "10.1.3 When the purchaser specifies flatness in accordance
The spec goes on to provide a table of under and overgage allowances for a range of thicknesses. It seems that the over/undergage tolerance is an additional material allowance for machining. Can someone verify or clarify this interpretation? Thanks... |

I can only comment that I have always interpretated overage as any stock beyond the tolerance on the + side. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
