What is the formula for calculating the depth of a keyway on a shaft say .375 key THanks

1/2 the height of the key after the cutter cuts a full flat.

This means the key way in the female and the male part added together will be deeper than the key heigth by the arc height of the key width.

Is there a formula to calculate the distance from the chord or flat to the outside diameter?. Thanks

c=width of Keyway
R=radius of bar

distance from OD to Flat is:

R-((4R^2-c^2)^1/2)/2
