I am taking two rooms, removing a wall, and making one room. My ceiling consists of 2x6s scabbed together with a 2' overlap that are spaced 16' on center. The span is 24'. I want to put in a cross beam above them to support the ceiling. The span of the cross beam would be 13' The beam I am considering is made up of two Douglas Fir 2x10s laminated together because I already have them in my stock pile. I haven't done beam calculations for deflection since college and need help determining the beam choice will be adequate.
