Can someone explain the relationship between a point-source generating sound in a room and the amount that would escape a hole in a wall or ceiling? Let's assume the reverberant contribution to the in-room SPL is minimal compared to the direct path. I was looking at using Lw-10*log(area of hole/surface area of room) or Lw-10*log(Q*area of hole/area of sphere), but I doubt the validity. I looked through a few textbooks with minimal success. Perhaps intensity over the area needs to be addressed? Is the result frequency dependent or equivalent in all bands? Thanks in advance. analogue |
