Edit
When resealing a final drive on a Cat D5 96Jxxxx.The tech manual wants you to press on the tapered and splined drive sprocket with a force of 25 to 30 tons.then install retaining nut. This nut is quite large, 4 3/8 dia. with 12 threads per inch. It has lugs on nut to tighten with a spanner wrench. My question is...Without the proper tool to press 25 tons. 1) How much force can be applied if you just torque the nut to 1600 lbs.ft. With a fabricated tool strike the nut then retorque and repeat process until no further rotation of nut is gained.
