Hi All New here, and this is my first post. I am not an engineer and not sure if you guys want to answer this question, my being a DIYer. I am haveing ny small beach house raised to have new concrete block piers put in. The house lifter wants me to tear off the porch decking, remove the floor joists and cantelever support the porch roof. It is a simple porch with true 2x6's, lathe and cedar shingles. Some of the builders at Fine homebuilding's breaktime message board have given their input. Thought I would ask you guys as well. The current plan is to double 2x4's and attach them to the now exposed ledger board of the porch and the beam holding up the roof rafters. Probably spaced every other roof rafter, 32". I'll use some Simpson product to make the connections. I'll also be using carriage bolts to more firmly secure the ledger board to the house, only nailed on now. Any suggestions or additional info you need? Thanks
