hi.. i juz want to know.. can we use orifice plate to detect leak in a pipeline? if yes, how we do it and how's the process take place?

i also wonder, for the orifice calculation using bernoulli's equation, there is a parameter where we hav to calculate the coefficient discharge. initially, the coefficient discharge = 0.6. why is it so? n can an orifice plate still working in the presence of impurities inside the pipeline? i really hope that my questions can be answered. tq for ur attention.
