To search for that information use the term "drill". Search and learn about the flutes, the shank, the point, the web, and styles of sharpening the points.. including thinning the web point. The most stress is very near the center where the drill actually pushes material away with compressive forces. The farther out on the diameter you get the higher the cutting surface footage and the more heat that must be displaced. The cutting edges can be positive or negitive. Why negitive? ... so that the drill will not "screw itself" through thin or soft material and hang. The rpm in which to spin a drill has everything to do with the diameter and the material it is drilling. The feed rate is determined by the same factors as rpm is but are effected as well by horse power and drill strength. ..now, go learn more.... good luck.
