Hi everyone. I am trying to choose an electric motor for a continuous duty application that requires an output of around 3 hp with a speed of around 4,000 rpm. The motor itself cannot be too large in volume or weight (less than 30 lbs and no larger than say 14" long x 8" diameter absolute max.) As far as I can tell, AC motors are out because of their size and weight. Is a servo my best option to reduce the size and still give the torque and speed I need? I would prefer to not have to buy the drive that goes with using a servo, plus I don't really need the positional accuracy. Thanks in advance for the input. |
