We have in our facility Wartsila SW 18V 38 series engines rated at 11.3 MW.The crankcase pressure is 2mmH2O as company OEM standards still the crankcase door holding studs are breaking very frequently there is no excessive vibration no excessive crankcase pressure. No explanation has been identified to this behaviour????????? CC door stands on 04 studs. If we replace the stud with much stronger material then there is a chance that CC door will actually break apart that is what we assume but not has been tried. |

Dear Friend,
I believe that tightenning torque and rapid temperatue changes affect the studs. Check tightenning torque and monitor the temperatures on the doors. |
