: I have a customer drawing that specifies a feature size: as: .040 MAX TYP.. I have not found an interpretation in GD&T resources. Can someone help? Can the feature ever exceed .040? Jim,Though not being extremely proficient with GD&T callouts, I have found that "TYP.", "TYPICAL", generally means that this feature is geometrically the same as another feature on the print (i.e. length, width, height) and the draftsperson has chosen not to dimension. I have also found that whenever "MAX." or "MAXIMUM" is stated on the drawing, that is exactly what it means...the component cannot exceed that dimension.I hope this helps.BJH
