Condensers are used to (general) change a vapor into a liquid.

Of course their any many-many applications for condensers, what application specifically?

To conserve water.... treated water.

On a ship you must make all your fresh water. By condensing the steam you can return the loop and save most of it.

Making fresh pure water is a space taking, time consumming, energy hungry process.

On the old steam locomotives they did just turn most of it loose. They vented it up the stack through jets that pulled fresh air into the fire box and through the fire tubes to better heat more water.

The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them.
