I wonder if anyone could tell me the psi needed to shear a 3.5" by 1/4" wall piece of steel pipe?? |

Actually, I want to squash the tube because I want to be save steps in my fabricating. It would be easier to make a measurement, squash, then shear the pipe in one step; then to make the cut then cope it to fit the other pipe that I want to weld it to. So I want to make a hydraulic shear that will squash and shear pipe in one step. That's why I am looking for shear strength charts or equations to help me in this. |

Have you seen the page on EE /sheet_metal_pierce.htm ? This is a general formula to shear or pierce metal. |
