Hi everyone, My company manufactures thermoplastic knobs via a plastic injection molding process. For a particular process, we currently use NAK55 for the mold. This material works well, however, we would like to improve durability and reduce corrosion. We were considering utilizing martensitic S42000 in the cavities of the mold. The molds are maintained at a temperature of 68-75F. The injected material ranges from 200-300F. Would there be a problem utilizing these two materials in the same mold? The two materials will be required to perform identically with respect to thermal conductivity and expansion/retraction. Thanks, Karen |
