Need help with designing a driving mechanism. I have a small water pump that needs to rotate at 2000rpm, delivering a 1000 litre of water/hour with a head of 7.6m through 13mm dia pipe. The input shaft of the pump is 8mm. I need to design a mechanism (gearbox) that fulfills the above but with the manual input of an average person. Where do i start? what info should i be looking for? |

Would this be a school project? First you need to select a pump that will move that much water at that RPM, at that head pressure. Then you need to determine what HP or torque is required to move that much volume of water at that head pressure through that diameter of pipe with that pump. Then you need to determine what gear ratio you need to allow a person to develop that much power at that RPM and with what device ... GOOD LUCK!
The worst suggestion of you lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. Modified by randykimball at Mon, Nov 01, 2004, 19:19:40 |
