Does anyone know how sheet metal gauges were established? Does it have anything to do with weight per sq ft? Thanks |

The weight is mirrored down as gauge numbers. The gauge thickness of different materials is different.
You may check more on /gauge.htm Raghu |

You got it. The Manufacturers Standard Gage is currently based on the weight of 41.82 pounds per square foot per 1 inch thick. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them. |
