I have an 80 gallons tank with a 5/8" vent and a 2" fill tubes. Both vent and fill go thru various bends and transitions (metal to rubber & vice versa). If given the flow , ie 60 gpm, is there a way to relate the number of minor losses to the final flow limit before splash back? In other word it won't take 60 gpm without backing up. Or is this more than just minor losses? If yes, what other factors must I account fora and what is the prevailing relationship? Thanks in advance.

What are you asking? Do you mean that the flow rate is 60gpm and you're asking whether the 5/8" drain can handle that rate? Obviously, if it can't no matter what size tank you have you will overflow. However if you have an enclosed system, then there is an equilibrium flow rate that will satisfy both and it will be determined by the source pressure and the piping. Be more specific about the problem and maybe somebody can help you.
