Force needed to bend steel class III ball mount | |||

Could someone give me an idea of the force needed to bend a class III ball mount 5 degrees up. I had a ball mount and hitch in my trailer hitch when I was rear ended, the impact effectively bent the steel in this 2" mount up 5 degrees. The steel that bend was 5/8" x 2", and the hitch has a rated towing capacity of 6000 lbs. any help would be greatly apprecitated

What is the distance from the ball hitch hole to the begining of where the radius starts? I dont have exact numbers but if you are looking at bending it back, it is going to take a lot more than a wrench and a firm grip. Give me that distance and I can give you a better estimate. |

Not sure how many pounds it takes. But I work in the auto collision industry, and you might be suprized to find the forces in your accident to be much greater than the 6000lb capacity of your hitch. I,ve seen the reciever porsion of the hitch (boxed steel) bent into an arc, in what would be considered a fairly light hit. COLORMECRAZY |
