Is there an equation I can use to measure the torqueability or shear modulus of a tube. If I can twist the tube, and measure the degree of twist and force at this point, and I know the overall length, is there an equation I can plug these values into to give me a useful measurement of rigidity/ stiffness etc. Strugg-a-ling |

Cheers. And finally if I was to perform a 3 point bend test on the same hollow cylinder, what would be the equation to calculate the flexural modulus, given I know the support distance, the o.d., i.d., and the force at a given deflection. Thanks in advance. |

J is known as the polar moment of inertia and differs from what is commonly called the moment of inertia (first moment of area). |
