I have a situation where cross linked polyethylene plastic pipe is passing through a mortar (sand / cement)mix. I have been asked the question "will the mortar mix degrade the plastic in any way"
I do not believe there will be any ill effect but look to the forum for assistance |

Thank you very much for your assistance. I like the uPVC analogy.
Having been cast in for many years is a good data point Henry |

I would be worried about the pipe erroding over time due to "Sandblasting" type reaction to the OD of the pipe. We'll see what others think. |

As a data point, PVC pipes are cast in practically every house slab in the country and last many, many years... |

Cement/Mortar effect on PVC... Plastic (Polyethelyne) may have a reaction with the calcium silicate hydrate (cement reaction to set it up) but only until it cures (24-72 hours). Which would not be enough time to 'eat' through the plastic. IMO
