I wish to know if there is impedance matching in mechanical engineering of the same concept as in electrical engineering where, by matching the inductance and capacitance of a load to the same characteristics of the power supply, the most energy can be made effective rather than being wasted as heat, often referred to as improving the power factor. In my particular case I will have a single cylinder engine trying to accelerate a much larger mass and I was wondering if a torsional spring in the drive train would serve to store and then redistribute torque to the mass during the engines non productive strokes? |
