The letter "g" refers to a lower limit tolerance variation. For 40 - 50 mm the limit would be -.009 for 50 - 60 mm the limit would be -.010 . I do not believe tolerance grades are based on a formulae. Tolerance grades are based on experiment with the actual sizes and the resulting fits.
