1. Tool to reduce waste of material by cutting closely nested shapes or end and threading losses.
2. Design to use the thinner thickness of the required gauge thickness tolerance(saves weight and sheet metal is purchased by the weight). 3. Specify the least expensive material spec that will qualify. 4. Manufacture the form or cut the product with the most efficent process for the shape and quantity. 5. Run batches that reduce set-up times and nest well into family set-ups. 6. Buy material in quantity when the market is down to save purchase costs. 7. Engineer to reduce handling costs of raw material and finished product. 8. Engineer processes to reduce labor. 9. Engineer to reduce quantity of set-up losses. 10. Engineer to reduce quality failures. 11. Engineer to reduce required energy used in production. 12. Engineer to reduce required shipping and warehouse space. 13. Engineer to reduce packaging costs. 14. Engineer to reduce sources of missed work accidents. 15. Avoid bottle necks, waisted movements, motions, or direction changes. The worst suggestion of your lifetime may be the catalyst to the grandest idea of the century, never let suggestions go unsaid nor fail to listen to them.
