Archimedes Number Equation and Calculator
In viscous fluid dynamics, the Archimedes number (Ar), is a dimensionless number used to determine the motion of fluids due to density differences.
Eq. 1
Ar = [ g L3 ρ1 (ρ - ρl ) ] / µ2
Where:
g = Local External Field (For Example Gravitational Acceleration) (m/s2)
ρ1 = Density of the Fluid (kg/m3)
ρ
= Density of the Body (kg/m3)
µ = Dynamic
Viscosity (kg/(s-m))
L = Characteristic Length of Body (m)
Ar: Archimedes
Number (dimensionless)
