Simply click on one of the many Submit Article buttons throughout the site, including on the home page. When you have finished composing your post, select Submit Article.
If I submit an article, does that guarantee it will be selected by your editors?
No. All articles are subject to editorial review and selection. Our editors review each submission to determine whether it’s relevant for our audience (and yes, they can be quite picky!). If your submission is declined, you will receive notification via the email you provided, and if possible, feedback from our editors as well. You will also be able to see that your article is published by searching Engineers Edge and will receive an email notification if your article has been accepted and published.
Do I need to be invited to become a Publishing Partner? Are there any additional requirements?
No. The Publishing Partnership Program is open to everyone; the only requirement is that your article be exclusive to Engineers Edge. We apply the same editorial standards to Publishing content that we do to all of our content. Of course, we’re always trying to raise the bar, and we hope enabling smart contributors to contribute and be recognized will mean an increase in both quality and quantity of our articles.
What is the Author Board?
The Author Board is a new feature that gives you the ability to track, monitor and manage your articles. At a glance, you can track anything relevant to your author activity on EE.
Copyright and all that stuff?
Copyright is designed to protect someone's work from theft. Generally speaking, whenever you write something original, what you write is automatically and implicitly copyrighted; under US law you don't need to register your work for it to be protected. Copyright can apply to many different kinds of works, including but not limited to music, song lyrics, poems, novels, technical books and movies.
Engineers Edge cannot — and will not — provide legal advice pertaining to the copyright status of a particular document. You are responsible for knowing the copyright status of your content and whether its copyright license permits re-distribution via the web BEFORE you upload it to Engineers Edge.

What isn't permitted?
If you share copyrighted material without the permission of the person who holds the copyright, that's called copyright infringement and it's against the law. You may not use Engineers Edge to share such material.
- You may not publish a document on Engineers Edge if you don't own its copyright (or have permission from the person who owns its copyright).
- You may not use Engineers Edge to offer or request copyrighted material if you don't own the copyright to the material (or have permission from the person who owns its copyright).
- You may not sell works that are in the public domain. Wikipedia has an informative article about the public domain . Though it's legal to charge for such works, it's not allowed on Engineers Edge.
- You may not copy somebody else's work from Engineers Edge and sell or share it as your own, unless that person gave you explicit permission to do so.
What happens when I upload content for which I don't own or control the copyright?
This is called copyright infringement, and it is illegal.
If we are notified that a document you have uploaded to Engineers Edge infringes someone else's copyright, we will take down the document immediately, as required by law, and we will notify you of the removal. If you persist in uploading unauthorized content, we will permanently ban your account and IP address from the Engineers Edge, pursuant to our repeat infringer policy.
Some important facts about copyright infringement:
- You can be sued for copyright infringement even if your account has been suspended.
- The length of a copied document does not matter, nor does the amount you may have copied: even a copying a small portion of a document may cause you to be liable for copyright infringement. See "Fair Use"
- A copyright notice (©) is generally not required for a work to be protected by copyright law.
- Distributing copyrighted content without the copyright owner's permission is copyright infringement even if you give the document away for free.
- There is no exception for unauthorized copying and distribution for "private" use. Even if you share a work with only a small group of your friends or family, you could still be liable for copyright infringement.
- There is no exception for the unauthorized copying and distribution of copyrighted content for educational or non-commercial use.
- You can be liable for copyright infringement even if you give attribution to the owner or author of the copyrighted content.
- Even if you used your creativity to make a new document that contained another person's copyrighted work, you may be liable for copyright infringement.
- Even if there are documents on the Engineers Edge site similar to the one you uploaded, you may be liable for copyright infringement if you upload an unauthorized document.
Content licensed with a Creative Commons license may be copied, distributed, and reused under certain circumstances.
