Description:

For best headroom in an expander circuit, the output of the NE570 should be biased up to 1/2 the supply voltage. This is accomplished by selecting external resistor R (which parallels internal resistor R4). The table below show the resultant bias for various choices of R; note that the supply voltage does not enter into the calculations.
