Head loss and head loss coefficient equation and calculator of a fluid in across a screen (circular metal wire mesh) inside a pipe. Reynolds number is assumed greater than 103 .
The head loss hLcan be calculated as:
hL= kloss x (um2 / (2 x g) )
Where k loss is the head loss coefficient, (um is the mean flow velocity in the pipe, and g is the gravitational acceleration. kloss is calculated from:
kloss = 1.3 ( 1 - FAR ) + ( 1 / FAR - 1)2
Where:
um = Flow Velocity m/s
hL = Head Loss (m)
kloss = Head Loss - dimension less
FAR = Free or Open Area / Total Area
g = 9.80665 m/s2 or
32.174 ft/s2
