Coefficients of Rolling Friction for Wheels with Steel and Pneumatic Tires
McKibben and Davidson (Agri. Eng., 1939) give the data in Table calculator below on the rolling resistance of various types of wheels for typical road and field conditions. Note that the coefficient fr is the ratio of resistance force to load.
Moyer found the following average values of fr for pneumatic rubber tires properly inflated and loaded: hard road, 0.008; dry, firm, and well packed gravel, 0.012; wet loose gravel, 0.06.
