Urethane Rollers Review
Synthetics, Plastic Injection Molding Design and Manufacturing
Urethane rollers offer many distinct advantages over metal, plastic, or ceramic rollers. Urethane rollers are very resistant to abrasion, and absorbs shock very well. Urethane coated rollers have minimal slippage, and reduce the likelihood of damaging the handled material. Urethane rollers operate at reduced sound pressure and do not oxidize or corrode in normal industrial environments. Urethane offer improved embitterment, have minimal compression set.
Some limitations of urethane rollers are a maximum operating temperature at approximately 200 F. Excessive steam exposure will degrade material, and selected chemicals will also deteriorate material.
Urethane rollers are typically manufactured using a cast or mold process over the desired bushing or core. Normally some post casting or molding machining is required to ensure the roller is at the desired diameter and length.
